Six years. 74 teams. One day.
1000 kilometres. One day. Purely electric. Since 2021, ED1000 puts modern EVs through what's actually possible on the road — not in a lab.
It's not about speed but about the smartest charging strategy. ED1000 is explicitly not a race — it's a demonstration of how confidently long distances can be covered with an electric car today. Scoring happens in several price classes, so vehicles only run against comparable rivals.
Far-reaching content creators, YouTubers and automotive journalists — with a consistently prominent cast. The 2021 premiere alone featured Hannes Jaenicke, Edin Hasanovic, singer Vincent Weiss, Le Mans winner Jörg Bergmeister and rally icon Isolde Holderied. Actor Peter Lohmeyer ("Das Wunder von Bern") joined in later editions.
Nine teams, a full grid. This is the ED1000 2026 line-up.
9 of 9 confirmed
DS Automobiles' new flagship. With a 97.2 kWh battery and up to 750 km of WLTP range, the DS 8 ranks among the most long-distance-capable EVs in its class — purpose-built for a format that demands 1000 kilometres in a single day.
The second-generation aerodynamically optimised Hyundai electric. With a 77.4 kWh battery, 800-volt architecture and standout efficiency figures, the IONIQ 6 ranks among the most long-distance-capable EVs in its class — purpose-built for a format that demands 1000 km in a single day with smart charging strategy.
Made in Rüsselsheim and refreshed in early 2026: the facelift of the all-electric Astra Sports Tourer gains a larger 58 kWh battery, now reaching up to 445 km of WLTP range. With a standard heat pump and optimised aerodynamics, the estate enters as an efficiency contender in its class — over 1000 kilometres, it's not battery size that wins, but route planning.
Top of the line of the electric Grandland family, built in Eisenach: the Grandland Electric Long Range packs a 97 kWh battery onto the STLA Medium platform, reaching up to 694 km of WLTP range. With 160 kW DC charging and 231 hp, it positions itself as a comfortable upper-midsize long-distance SUV — composed enough to tackle 1000 kilometres with only a handful of well-planned charging stops.
Kia's first model from its new Platform Beyond Vehicle generation — a fully electric compact van with a 71.2 kWh battery and up to 415 km of WLTP range. In its Cargo guise, one of the most unusual entries in the ED1000 line-up: a commercial vehicle tackling the same distance as premium sedans — exactly the statement a format needs that wants to show, across every segment, what electric mobility delivers today.
The fully electric flagship saloon from Sweden. Built on an 800-volt architecture, the ES90 charges at up to 310 kW and covers up to 660 km (WLTP) — Scandinavian efficiency for a route where every kilometre counts.
Geelys compact electric SUV — and the brands first appearance at the ED1000. With a 60 kWh LFP battery and around 430 km of WLTP range, the E5 enters as a newcomer out to prove that efficient electric mobility can also be affordable.
The compact EV from the Stellantis-Leapmotor venture. With rear-wheel drive, a 0.26 drag coefficient and a 67 kWh LFP battery good for up to 480 km WLTP, the B05 brings fresh, aerodynamically honed efficiency to the grid.
BYD's compact SUV in its second generation: the Atto 3 Evo switches to 800-volt technology, charging at up to 220 kW — roughly 25 minutes from 10 to 80 percent. With a 74.8 kWh Blade battery and 510 km of WLTP range, the former entry-level EV suddenly steps up as a serious long-distance contender. Exactly the kind of leap the ED1000 puts on show.
The ED1000 returns — starting in Düsseldorf in 2027. A thousand kilometres in one day; the Saturday before is set aside for preparation.
